How does the Location Referral Fees system work

Location Referrers tend to be “social networkers”, friendly people who know a lot of people, and come into contact with new people all the time. They’re very helpful referring new locations to us, and we pay them a referral fee when they do.

We pay referral fees based on a sliding scale, based on how valuable the the location is to us. In principle, smaller locations that can have fewer unique shoots made pay a lower Location referral fee.

Acceptable location referral

Location referral fee: €50 per referral.

Example location attributes include: smaller one-bedroom apartments. Tend to have less natural light, or unusable areas (for example, a bathroom that only one person can fit in). They may be poorly furnished, with tiny rooms.

“Acceptable” location referrals are useful us, but they’re not ideal. They come with all the overhead of dealing with a new location owner and managing the realtionship, but only a small number of shoots can be made there.

We could make up to 3 Solo shoots at such a location, and meet all Shooting Location standards (to be defined).

Excellent location referral

Location referral fee: €100 per referral.

Example location attributes include: Larger home; 3+ bedrooms; each room dressed to be roughly on-paradigm; has unique features valuable to us (eg, amazing natural light; or is particularly on-paradigm – eg, three female uni students live there). perhaps this is a commercial location “after hours”, for example a small cafe, clothing store, book store or similar.

We could make 4 to 10 Solo shoots at such a location, and meet all Shooting Location standards (to be defined).

Amazing location referral

Location referral fee: €150 per referral.

Example location attributes include: More unique homes with features like a private outdoor area we can make shoots in, or a pool, or a gym, a private garden, a farm, or similar.

We could make 11 or more Solo shoots at such a location, and meet all Shooting Location standards (to be defined).

These locations are always preferred, but tend to be rare!

The Shoot Producer is aware of the moral hazard of offerring higher fees than are defined here for a location that does not meet the requirements, and makes conservative assessments.

The first five assessments a Shoot Producer makes (of how much to pay a location referrer) are discussed with the Creative Director before informing the Location referrer, to ensure correct calibration.
