How can models modify clothing with scissors to make appealing content in a Solo shoot?

One of the Assessment Areas that help to build a Solo shoot our customers will enjoy, Clothing being used to heighten sexiness is an element that should feature in every Solo shoot. Clothing can not only be worn in deliberate or unconventional ways to engineer appealing content, with model permission, clothing can also be modified on set by cutting the fabric.

Jean shorts example

ABOVE: Alexandra Solo 2. The jean shorts she is wearing were deliberately modified to engineer the flash of buttock, panties, labia, pubic hair and anus – all being teased on the sides. Shop-bought (un-modified) jeans shorts would not achieve this.

In 2016 Creative Director Garion planned a tease sequence around model Alexandrea wearing jean shorts that were cut much smaller than the model would wear in real life. This shoot took place in Australia where it is a cultural norm for people to modify old pairs of jeans into shorts. Garion organised for the model to bring some old pairs of jeans / jean-shorts that she was happy to cut to pieces for the shoot, knowing when he made the initial request that it was likely she’d be ok with this.

The model was aware before the shoot began that it was unlikely the clothing she modified within the shoot would be wearable again after that day.

The Results

As an activity for this shoot, Garion asked the model to cut the jeans into the briefest possible version of shorts. Unfortunately, the footage taken of that was not suitable for the final edit, but the final results in the modified jean shorts works well. In the shoot, despite the shorts being so brief as to be unsuitable for use in public (?), this does not feel “forced” – it is known that customers willingly suspend their disbelief.

 ABOVE: This image is an excellent No-nude-Extreme image – but what’s the Posing Level? Open leg? Explicit? Nude? Any time it’s difficult to nominate a Posing Level for an image, it’s sure to be an excellent!

Improvements? Many are possible.

  • The model having more pubic hair 😐
  • A greater depth-of-field, so her vulva and anus area were in focus (this was shot at ISO 800, f3.5, 1/80th; the higher ISO was in an effort to let more daylight in)
  • Maybe pulling her labia out more, to exaggerate the effect? (or maybe that would be “too much”? Worth a try, decide in the edit)
  • Shooting the same pose again, without panties; pushing the denim into her labia more, so they wrap around the crotch (oh, he did do that, check it!)

T-shirt example

In 2015, a sequence was planned around the modification of a T-shirt to explore model Nichole’s large breasts. The T-shirt used in this instance belonged to the SP, so the model did not have to part with any clothing themselves. As only one T-shirt was present the SP shot Video and Stills back-to-back for this small section – capturing a small part of the action for video, then recapturing that same action for Stills

There is no need to Stills and Video mediums to match exactly, SPs can choose the medium the event will be best shot for, and shoot that; it’s also fine for the modification to be captured for Video, but just have the modified item worn in Stills.

A small incision was made in the middle of the neck line of the top and the model was encouraged to aid the top to slowly pull apart. The top was transformed into a bikini style covering before it was eventually ripped in half and removed.

The Results

ABOVE: The modified top facilitates excellent down-blouse content, the breasts are almost spilling from the opened neckline. Modifying the T-shirt so that it is now tied at the front helps to make the capacity of the top smaller, making the model’s breasts appear even larger as they are pushed up and out. The model’s pose also facilitates the inclusion of her underarm hair which is good. This image would benefit from more light around the breasts, and the model’s facial expression being more-engaged.

Improvements? Many are possible.

  • Tighter top – the initial top is not a good fit on the model, if it was “skin tight” everything that followed would be even better
  • More light – A reflector and or twisting the model to the light source would ensure both breasts were equally exposed as the top was explored
  • Working with the model to keep an engaged face
