When a model has fuller (larger) buttocks and thighs, it can be difficult to meet the requirements for th Open Leg poses, the vulva and anus visible in many shots.
it can be tempting to ask the model to “assist” by pulling open her buttocks – this certainly exposes the vulva and anus… but an OL pose becomes an EXP when a model does that. Pulling open the buttocks, even from comparably far away from the actual vulva and anus stretches the skin around the area, causing deflection of her labia or anus – the very definition of what makes an EXP pose!
If the model is being shot for the EXP Posing Level, that’s fine to do, and subtle moves like this are excellent to capture.
But if OL is the maximum Posing Level for this model, this is not ok! Models are told what the OL Posing Level involves, they are paid for a OL-level shoot, and we never want to make models uncomfortable by “forcing” them to do poses that were not part of the agreement.
Not every pose will work
When models have fuller buttocks, poses like Doggy Position may not be viable (as the buttocks may naturally be closed) – obscuring the anus and vulva. The solution is not to get models to pull their buttocks open (that would change the Posing Level to EXP), but to instead direct models into poses where the anus and vulva can easily be seen.
Depending on the model flexibility, directing her to have her knees a little apart, bum up, chest lower down (breasts on the bed) may cause her buttocks to open up.
Explore the poses that do work in more detail
As there will be some poses that do not work for models with fuller buttocks, SPs ensure the poses the models can achieve are covered in more depth than usual.
This is done by not only utilising different lens lengths and camera positions but by focusing on the different ways Props, Clothing, set pieces, Model moving and being active and Conversation can be layered with the OL posing level.
