There is only a finite number of suitable model first names that models of our age and their culture typically have – abbywinters.com has been producing content long enough to need to reuse model first names to remain somewhat naturalistic.
When a model is assigned a first name that already exists, they are also assigned a surname initial. For example;
- Rebecca
- Rebecca L
In the above example, the “L” is the surname initial – these are two different models on abbywinters.com.
Model names must be unique so both customers and we can differentiate between them reliably.
Models must never mention their surname initial in their video appearances (when introducing ourselves in real life we don’t include surname initials, so it comes across as unnatural when models do it in AW videos – being naturalistic is part of the paradigm).
✅ “Hey, I’m Rebecca from Wyoming! 👋I’m studying biodiversity…”
❌ “Hey, I’m Rebecca L from Wyoming! 👋I’m studying biodiversity…”
This principle also applies on multi-model shoots.
✅ “Hey, I’m Jane – I’m making a shoot today with Rebecca.”
❌ “Hey, I’m Jane – I’m making a shoot today with Rebecca L.”
The only exception to this is in the unlikely event we are making a shoot of two or more models, and two models have the same first name on the same shoot (this has never happened in over two decades of making shoots, but it may one day). In that case, it is appropriate for both models to mention their surname initials when making introductions on video.
